Was there anyone in their right minds that thought, “Hey, flipping a house for profit sounds like a good plan?” I have to tell you that the actually doing it sucks, big time.
Thankfully I didn’t go into flipping as a way to make money but out of necessity. The house I grew up in my parents owned and let my father’s mother live there rent-free, they simple asked for them to pay the taxes and insurance on the house and to keep it livable. Well none of those things happened and when my Grandmother passed away the house had to be taken down to studs. For which I did all the demolition work-kind of liked that part, especially since I hated my “day” job. But then trying to get contractors to work with your schedule and at a reasonable price is something of an oddity. Perhaps even dare I say, an impossibility. So, a year and five months later I have finally made it to the drywall going up. Thank God in heaven!
Beside the demo, I have framed in doorways, framed a completely new closet in one of the bedrooms, done masonry work with closing in an old-not-up-to-code fireplace, painted exterior and interior, laid sub-flooring and then laminate hardwood, put in cement board and then tiled the bathroom, insulated the whole house (attic and exterior walls), installed cabinetry, install lighting fixtures and landscaping.
I hope the house is on the market by the end of April. I’m praying for a quick sale!
