In the beginning video

Sorry you're going to have to tilt your head to the left to watch this one. Enjoy!

I love Fall, especially in the rain

Here in the South-eastern part of the US (and for that matter the entire US as far as I can see) we are in a serious draught. Well blessings of blessings we have some rain moving in and slow to move out. Thank you God!
I had the wonderful plan on Tuesday evening to up and drive to West Virginia to see the fall leaves. YES I do that kind of crazy thing. Why not I love the mountains and I'm a bit of a color freak. Anyway, we left Wednesday morning and drove in the rain, through the rain to some more rain and saw lots of leaves-on the ground. OK so I'm being dramatic but you can get the point. Rain, windshield wipers, fog, raindrops on the camera.
I have some pictures that I'll post as soon as I find the cord. I forgot to mention that I destroyed my office in hopes of a remodel to inject creativity into my writing just before the great idea of "leafing" (humm...that's like leaving to go see leaves or in the singular a leaf, but I was really thinking to procrastinate the remodel!)
Until next time.
See Ya!

Back to YouTube

Well, I have spent the day pretty much doing nothing. Read a book, watched a bit of tv, fixed dinner (a roast in the slow cooker-even that was easy) and roamed the Internet, especially YouTube.com. I haven't been on long but as from yesterday's post you can tell I got a few moving-picture-show up of the house. Don't get seasick watching them.
Anyway...I have a favorite "channel", Bradthunder. Way too funny to explain so just check it out. www.youtube.com/bradthunder
But I was going through the back log of Gary's (that's BradThunder, go figure?!) video logs (vlogs...all the new terminology-its so exciting) and came across his love/obesession with Land Rovers and I remember the coolest thing. I live in North Carolina and we have this little house called The Biltmore (visit www.biltmore.com to check it out) and they have this Land Rover experience. So I thought this would interest the Land Rover extreme lovers in the world. Here's a vlog...

Hope you enjoy! And as always visit North Carolina, we're more than tobacco. www.visitnc.com

Videos of the remodeled house

Here's to new friends!

Back to YouTube.com, funny I seem to always be talking about that place. Humm?
Well, I just so happen to find a comment posted by someone living in my favorite place, Scotland, and I emailed my envious hello. Ashley and her family are living in Aberdeen while her husband attends University. (Hello family!) Now, knowing that someday I would love to live in Scotland Ashley graciously responded she'd keep my Scottish obsession going. Here's their blogspot, www.scottishfiles.blogspot.com, so check it out.

I knew watching Oprah would come in handy one day!

Like a lot of women I find that I Tivo Oprah. Now on most days I can tell by the title I'll not want to watch it and delete it, but sometimes I get surprised. This happened just this week. I'm not a perimenopause or menopause woman but my mom is and I will be one day too. So when the show titled, The Big Wake up Call for Women with Dr. Christine Northrup I watched to see what I could learn and boy was it the right thing to do.
I love to read but rarely do I read anything Oprah talks about or promotes on her book club. I read for escapism or for curiosity if a subject intrigues me but "reality" fiction is not on my top list of "gotta read". And I think as an Oprah viewer you know she's not that into the romance genre which is number one on my books to read. I watched and was so happy to hear Dr. Northrup saying multiple times to read romance! I have pulled from the Oprah.com site the below text which is a summary of Dr. Northrup's visit on the Oprah Winfrey show.

{Women often have trouble sleeping as they get older. What causes insomnia in the first place? "That's often stress hormones and the wrong kind of diet," Dr. Northrup says.

The first step to a better night's sleep is decreasing the amount of white foods—like pasta and sugar—in your diet. "If they get off the white foods, there are high glycemic index carbs. Glycemic index is raising your blood sugar quickly."

Instead, try to eat more foods with omega-3 fats—including salmon, ground flaxseed and macadamia nuts. "When you eat that way, you find that it will decrease insulin. It will also decrease stress hormones, and there's less inflammation in your brain and you'll sleep like a babe."

Another way to avoid another night staring at the ceiling, Dr. Northrup says, is to establish a calming routine before bed. "The other thing people do, they surf the net right before they go to bed or they watch TV right before they go to bed and this excites the brain," she says. "You need to give yourself an hour before going to bed to get ready for sleep. A warm bath. A romance novel. … Get the TV out of your bedroom."}

***

{Dr. Northrup wants you to have the best sex of your life—all you have to do is get in the right frame of mind. "The brain is the biggest sex organ in the body," she says. "You need to learn how to turn yourself on." Dr. Northrup recommends romance novels (80% of the publishing industry is romance novels. Do you know why? They turn woman on), weekend getaways with your lover and letting go of inhibitions by giving up perfection.}

THANK YOU Dr. Northrup for letting all of Oprah's viewers know the truth about the romance genre.

Drooling over the new iMac computer

I want it so bad its like a drug. I visit the Apple site daily and spend way too much time willing the price to lower or that I could win the lottery (of which I always forget to go buy the dang ticket) so that I could fill this want.
I have really got to get a job soon or my sorry excuse of a life is going to continue to hoover in this obsession-land!
OK glad I could get that off my chest.
Until the next time.
