And the work continues
So, sorry its been so long since posting, but the overtime is still going strong. Oh, how I miss the days of worrying if I'd ever find a job after the remodeling!
It's coming up on a year at my current position. Which usually means I'm itching to do something different. I like my job ok and besides have you seen the job market lately? Seriously, I'v grateful for the job and I like most of the people. (That accounts for a BIG, HUGE part of the staying.)
Still looking to get paid for doing something I love...I just don't know what that is.
As for writing, I've been being a little lax in that too. When you're good at something (procrastination being the key word) keep at it. I have been reading some reference books on researching stories and plotting so I'm getting antsy to delve back in full throttle. I especially hope to get my website up sooner, rather than later.
I did manage a vacation last week. (If I didn't take the time off I'd lose it.) We headed down to New Orleans, LA and then back up to Gatlinburg, TN. A lot of driving and a bit of a temperate change. Not super impressed with New Orleans. Glad I had a chance to go back, having gone when I was a teenager many years ago. But a day was definitely enough. I'm a simple girl and I'm not big into crowds. Saving up for Ireland next year, as long as I don't continue to spend my money!!
I just bought a Kindle from Amazon.com and I'm loving it and I'm thinking about buying another TV for my office to also use as a monitor. But I had better wait. I'll let you know how that works out...

Working life
My favorite "talk" radio happens to be Matt and Ramona on 107.9 in
Charlotte www.mattandramona.com and they have this thing called Tirade Tuesday. The meaning
behind this is people call in with their tirades and, in a way, are able to
get “it” off their chest. Well today is Tuesday!
So, when you go and interview for a job and they say, "You'll be able to
work overtime?" you quickly reply, "Yes." Now your yes can mean many
things, mine comes with a silent , “within reason.” My job is a Monday through Friday
7:30 am to 4:00 pm schedule and when you have mandatory overtime of 10
hours a week for two weeks, then 5 hours for a week and then a holiday
week for which you come back to two more weeks of 5 hours each you tend
to make that work during the week, because lets face it I like my
weekends free of the worry and stress of "WORK"! So when your management
request people to volunteer to come in on Saturday and Sunday of the
week you already have to put in 5 hours are they seriously thinking I'm
coming? I hope not. Seems like you may need to be doing some hiring. I'm
thinking I need to find a way to travel in time and reconsider my job
choices…what am I say if I have a time traveling machine I’ll be rich.

One of my favorite things
I love really cool house plans/floor plans and this Katrina Cottage is a great idea for starter homes in the rebuilding of the Gulf Coast.

New day
I was just thinking it had been a long time since I posted. Well, that's life for you! Nothing much new going on with me. Still working the J-O-B. Yippee!!
It has started to feel like spring here (80 degree high today) and I like it, but I am not looking forward to the hot summer I know is coming. I would much rather be cold than hot. I'm happiest at around 65 degrees. Not hard to please, right?
I'm looking for some land in the mountains of North Carolina, not that I can afford it at the moment, hoping to expand on the farming life. (See early post with picture of my chickens.) I don't know when this idea took hold but I really like having the chickens and would also like to get a few cows. Maybe even do some organic farming with veggies like zucchini, tomatoes, and pumpkins. I love pumpkins!

Happy Chinese New Year!
Chinese New Year, Year of the Rat
I was born in the year of the tiger. And I'm a leo...hummm? I'm beginning to see a trend.
I love astrology, horoscopes and the like. Recently I have been hearing a lot about positive energy and I'm going to try my hand at it. I going to make a Vision Board to help me visualize the things I want. (more to come on this later!)
On the writing front I have been writing again. This is my year!**vision board hint**
Gotta go back to work...

New day, new year...
Just a quick hello and Happy New Year! Still working the job, finding a little time to write and getting myself into trouble, but in a good way!
Something I really believe in is hair donation. I lost my father to cancer in 1994 after an eleven year battle. He like many cancer patients lost his hair. Now my dad was a bit vain about looking sharp and after the first time he lost his hair we of course couldn't afford a nice wig so he had to make do with one "off the shelf". But after the second time he was able to get a nice wig made special for him and that came in handy the third and final time. Knowing how much it meant to him I have started donating my hair to Locks of Love. The first time I donated 10 inches, then I donated about 11 inches the next time. Thankfully my hair grows fast so I can continue to donate and I did. This time to Pantene's beautiful lengths, www.beautifullengths.com to find out more. I had 9 inches cut this month to add to the million inch chain. How attached are you to your hair? What if you lost your hair? I think of this every time. It's not easy to cut your hair and I tend to hold on to the last moment. But I always feel so much better when I get it cut and know that it is going to serve someone more than it was serving me.
Do something get this year!

Miscellaneous musings
On the house front, we did close on the 30th of November...yippee! No more worrying over that.
I started another blog, www.babystorytime.blogspot.com to keep track of all my baby pictures. And to let others see the cutest kids in the world.
I got a job, posted a few back, and yes it is the kind that I'm just making a paycheck at. I like the people but the "work" part is kind of the same thing as I did before and didn't like. Go figure. But I was in a financial bad way so I'm digging out of that before re-evaluating the future.
My friends in my writers group are doing an attainable goal list for the coming year and I thought about it and as usual don't like to do goals because I tend to lose track of them and only disappoint myself when I realize I didn't do them.
But...I still do it. Am I Masochistic? Probably. (2. gratification gained from pain, deprivation, degradation, etc., inflicted or imposed on oneself, either as a result of one's own actions or the actions of others, esp. the tendency to seek this form of gratification. definition from dictionary.com)
I'm trying to think about the word attainable. I guess you call things you want to happen and that you can work to achieve goals, but what of dreams? A dream is a wish your heart makes-to borrow from Disney-and I am a DREAMER. I guess that's why I don't normally do the "attainable" kind of goal making. I might make that my goal to work on this year. Do you have goals or are they secretly dreams?
No matter what...have fun and don't settle, at least not for too long.
